2014 Glyn Giani resigns from footwear training post
Vereeniging (SA) – Glyn Giani has resigned from the National Footwear Leather Cluster and plans to reopen a private training school for machine operators, technical designers, supervisors, and department managers, based in Parys.
He had been running the Footwear Design and Technology School (FDTSSA) and Footwear Infrastructure Systems (FIS), based in Pretoria, for 4 years up to 2012.
In 2013 he said he was “approached by the DTI with a request to get involved in the NFLC project which was followed by VUT with an offer of a ‘partnership’ with the NFLC/VUT alliance”.
Jay Irkhede, director: leather & footwear at the DTI, said another appointment would be made “shortly”, and that he expected training to begin at VUT “this year”.
